What a strange time for us all. I can imagine the concern this might be bringing up for you all during pregnancy and so I wanted to share some recommendations to try and alleviate some of the worry, anxiety or stress surrounding this current issue we are faced with.
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists suggest that there is no reason a pregnant woman with Coronavirus should feel any more unwell than a non-pregnant woman, so symptoms should not become heightened due to your pregnancy. It is mainly the elderly and those with weakened immune systems who are at risk. There are currently no reported deaths of a pregnant woman who has Coronavirus. There is currently no evidence to suggest an increased risk of miscarriage or that it is possible to pass Coronavirus onto your unborn baby. The most important thing you can do is to wash your hands regularly, especially when returning home from a public place. If you have chosen to self isolate for the foreseeable future, here are a few things I recommend doing to focus on keeping yourself calm and relaxed... 🏡 Nest! Use this opportunity to really get your nesting mama head on. Getting those little jobs done, organising drawer space and upping your comfort levels in your space is a great way to spend your time!
Batch cook! Preparing yourself lots of freezable meals will be invaluable to you once your baby is here! From experience, the shops have plenty of fresh produce, so providing you feel up to it, stock up your shopping backs and get cooking!
📚 Top up your birth prep! Whether you’re practising yoga, hypnobirthing, prenatal Pilates or meditating ready for birth, this is your chance to perfect your skills. This will also keep your mind focused on the excitement of your impending birth, and all of that movement and breathing will do wonders for your mind and body.
We are all in a very unknown state of limbo right now, but let’s try to really do the research and make decisions based on the evidence we are confronted with. Sending love to you all. Please take care of yourselves 💛
